SystemPods are designed for mounting onto two parallel rails/tubes, usually in the form of a pedestal guard at a sailboat helm. Most pedestal guards fall into two width or spacing sizes: 9.5” or 12”. This spacing is measured from the CENTER of one tube to the CENTER of the opposite tube.
The back of every SystemPod has semicircular grooves in the back that correspond to either 9.5” or 12” wide rail/tube/guard spacing. It’s very important to select a NavPod that matches the width of your pedestal guard, since a NavPod “for 9.5” guard” will not fit on a 12” wide guard (and vice versa). You can find the indication for whether a SystemPod model is “for 9.5” wide guard” or “for 12” wide guard” at the end of every SystemPod product title.
Pre-cut SystemPods are available for most MFD models from major marine electronics manufacturers between 7" and 16" screen sizes. Use the dropdown boxes above to find and select the EXACT manufacturer and model of the MFD you’re installing, then click “Search NavPod” to find the matching pre-cut NavPod(s).
You can use the dropdown boxes above to select the manufacturer and model of your display, then click "Search NavPod" to find the matching pre-cut NavPod. Be careful when selecting the display model to make sure it matches your MFD model EXACTLY, since some MFD models have very similar names and part numbers, but utilize completely different cutout shapes.
NO! It’s important to make sure the MFD model you select from the dropdown list is an EXACT match for the MFD model you’re installing. Some MFD models have very similar names and/or part numbers, but utilize completely different cutout shapes. The difference, presence, or absence of one word, letter, or number in the model can indicate a completely different display with a completely different cutout.
For example, a Garmin ECHOMAP CHIRP 74cv has a different cutout than an ECHOMAP Plus/UHD 74cv, which has a different cutout than an ECHOMAP UHD2 74cv, which has a different cutout than an ECHOMAP UHD2 74sv, which has a different cutout than an ECHOMAP UHD2 94sv. The differences between CHIRP, Plus/UHD, UHD2, or between “cv” and “sv”, or between “74” and “94” ALL result in different display models with different cutouts. Similar small differences exist for many other displays models and manufacturers (Raymarine Axiom vs. Axiom Pro, B&G Zeus S vs. Zeus 3S, etc. etc. etc.), so be sure to find an EXACT match for your MFD model.
If you’re uncertain about finding a match between your MFD model and a pre-cut NavPod, please feel free to reach out to our support team. We deal with this stuff every day and we’re happy to help!
Check out our SailPod models, which are designed and sized to fit a single MFD (without the additional space or cutouts for additional small instruments that are part of the SystemPod design).
Some of our larger un-cut SystemPods are large enough to fit 3-4 small instruments along with a 7” MFD and some (not all) 9” MFDs (depends on the specific display models). With one or two exceptions, pre-cuts are NOT available for these display combinations.
For mounting an MFD plus 3-4 small instruments, we typically recommend using TWO NavPods to accommodate all those electronics: one SailPod for the MFD and one InstrumentPod for the 3-4 small instrument displays. Those two NavPods can be mounted together on a double-bend AngleGuard (typically, (the MFD/SailPod is typically mounted on the lower angled section of the guard, with the instruments/InstrumentPod mounted on the upper straight section).
If you don’t have a double-bend pedestal guard and your helm isn’t set up well to accommodate installing one, another option would be to pair a SystemPod (for an MFD plus 1-2 instruments) with 1-2 of our smaller RailMount NavPods (for your 1-2 small instruments).
